The award-winning, family owned Marsham Court Hotel is proud to be one of the most accessible hotels in the UK.
With commanding views over the sea, our location on the South Coast makes us a perfect base from which to explore the wider Dorset area, including the Jurassic Coast and New Forest.
5 of our 95 bedrooms are accessible and all have profiling beds, removable ceiling hoists and wet rooms. 2 have king-size bases with 2 separately controlled profiling mattresses, 2 have separate twin profiling beds and the other is a family rooms with 1 standard double bed and 2 single profiling beds with ceiling hoist over. One of the accessible rooms also has a connecting room which is ideal for guests travelling with carers or additional family members. 2 accessible rooms are also dog friendly. We are the first hotel in the UK to install a Changing Places toilet and shower and have also added a Sensory Room. These are free for resident guests to use during their stay.
There is a wheelchair accessible lift at the front of the hotel and level access from the car park at the rear where blue badge holders can reserve a parking space. All of our outdoor terraces have been levelled and a ramp leads to our outdoor swimming pool which is open and heated from May to September. Disabled changing facilities and an i-swim pool hoist are also in place.
A beach wheelchair is available should guests wish to use this (please note that a refundable deposit is required). The wheelchair also has Forest Wheels so trips further afield are also possible.
Other facilities include a coin-operated guest laundry room with a washer and dryer, static and tilting shower chairs on request, a portable hoist or transfer board available for use with the i-swim hoist and we also cater to blended diets.
Our staff all receive disability awareness training and we have just been awarded a Level 3 Disability Confident Leader award.
Our accessible rooms can only be booked direct with us so that we can ensure our guests receive the best possible care and attention to their own personal needs.
We use a tool called ‘WelcoMe’ which enables guests to tell us discreetly about their additional needs before they arrive. Guests create a profile and register their visit and our team then receive detailed information about how we can best support them to ensure they receive the best possible service. The hotel is 100 years old and we have adapted wherever possible within the constraints of the building but we know that we still might not be suitable for absolutely everyone.
