Sun Hill Cottage is our dog-friendly holiday cottage for up to six guests at Sun Hill Farm. This beautiful location sits alongside a well-known racehorse training establishment in Constable Burton, near the market town Leyburn, North Yorkshire.

This traditional cottage is full of character with solid oak beams, stone walls and arches to add to the period appeal. This is the perfect country escape, and a glorious ’gateway’ to the nearby Yorkshire Dales National Park. At the heart of the home is the cosy living area with comfy seating and a log burning stove. Curl up with a glass of wine and a book after a day exploring the rolling hills beyond or open up the French doors and head out to the garden.

There is a farmhouse-style kitchen with a traditional Aga, breakfast island and a spacious dining area, along with everything you could need for a self-catering holiday in Yorkshire. We can even arrange a private chef to cook for your group, so you can relax and make your stay more memorable.

When dinner is over, enjoy a fun evening in and turn over the large dining table into a pool table. This is a perfect game to keep the kids, and the big kids, entertained, and it’s cleverly hidden away – you’d never have known!

This holiday home has three stylish double bedrooms, each with their own en-suite bathrooms. One double bedroom is on the ground floor, with its own en-suite wet room with a shower. This is perfect for a couple looking for a bit more privacy, and there are views out into the beautiful cottage garden.

OUTSIDE…

French doors from the living area lead out to the patio and garden. Sitting close to the house is a jacuzzi-style hot tub, with stunning views over the majestic rolling countryside. Lounge in the rattan garden chairs around the large outdoor table and enjoy the views across the paddocks which form part of the training facilities at Sun Hill Racing. You can even see racehorses working on the gallops from the garden whilst you enjoy an al fresco breakfast or lunch cooked on the gas BBQ.

Sun Hill Cottage offers an idyllic rural escape in the heart of Wensleydale for families and friends. Escape from busy lives and relax and reconnect with nature. We know that nobody wants to get left behind on a family holiday, so the cottage also allows you to bring along your doggies. With an enclosed garden and so many walks on your doorstep, this is the ideal dog-friendly holiday cottage in Yorkshire!

PRACTICALITIES…

There is free wi-fi throughout the holiday home. The kitchen is well equipped and includes high-quality bed linen, towels, bathrobes and toiletries. There is also a starter pack for the kitchen and fire. On arrival you will also find a locally sourced welcome hamper. A washing machine and tumble dryer are available for use, located in a neighbouring building. Sun Hill Cottage is an accessible property for guests with reduced mobility. It has a ground floor bedroom with en-suite wet room with a shower, accessed via a step down from the dining area.

The cottage neighbours the five-bedroom Sun Hill Farmhouse and The Palins which has one bedroom. All three can be combined at Sun Hill Farm for large group accommodation for eighteen guests.

IN THE AREA…

Just a mile down the road in Constable Burton is popular bar and restaurant The Wyvill Arms. Hawes, Bedale, Richmond and Harrogate are all within an easy drive of Sun Hill Farm. They each have something to impress everyone in your group. You can find guides to each in our Journal.

Leyburn is the closest town and offers a range of everyday shopping within 4 miles of this Yorkshire Dales holiday cottage. It offers a range of everyday shopping, as well as inns and tearooms. Try something sweet from Inspired Chocolate, who make delicious artisanal chocolates. Also, make sure to visit the weekly market on a Friday.

Only 3 miles away is the well-known historical racing town of Middleham. And for any horse racing enthusiasts, you can even book a guided stable tour of the racing yard at Sun Hill and really get to know the horses and staff.
