MDI Home from Home Apartment
The MDI Home from Home apartment is the first and only fully wheelchair accessible, self-catering apartment in Ireland. The apartment is fitted with ceiling track hoists, shower chairs, grab rails and electric profile beds. Other equipment such as Sit-to-stand hoists and Air Mattresses are also available to our guests on request. At MDI, our main goal when creating the Home from Home apartment was, as the name suggests, to provide a true home away from home for our guests. Located in Chapelizod, Dublin, it is 7km from Dublin city centre, with direct public transports routes right outside our door. It is also a 15-minute walk from the phoenix park and a 15-minute bus journey from Liffey Valley Shopping centre
Bedrooms are available to book for both MDI members and members of the public with accessibility needs. The apartment also has a communal lounge and kitchen area that is equipped with an adjustable motorised worktop and Able-Table.
Please note that guests may be asked to provide a manual handling certificate if they themselves or a member of their party is a wheelchair user. This is to ensure, that in the event of a fire, there is someone on the premises who is properly trained to assist a guest who is a wheelchair user, in safely evacuating the building using the evacuation chair.
