Located on the Northumberland coast, in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), Low Steads Holiday Cottages are the perfect location for your holiday.
There are five cottages in total, two of which are wheelchair accessible and very spacious.
Newly built in 2021 Curlew Cottage is a calm, spacious, light cottage deigned to allow wheelchair access with ease. The cottage is detached, in a large enclosed garden overlooking the fields.
Whinney Cottage was built in 2012, with the aim to provide a warm, spacious, flexible cottage for everyone to enjoy including wheelchair users and those with reduced mobility.
From the cottages, it is only a short (10-15minute) walk down a tarmac lane to two very special beaches; Howdiemont Bay and Sugar Sands. You walk past the traditional, well kept farm buildings and down a hedge lined lane. Alongside are fields of wheat, barley, cattle and sheep.
When you get to the coast you have access to the coastal path. North to Howick, Craster, Embleton, onwards. South to Boulmer, Alnmouth , Warkwarth and beyond.
The village of Longhoughton is a short (10-15 minute) walk away. There you will find a shop (with cashpoint), bakery, cafe, church and access to the local bus service.
Apart from the wonderful beaches on the doorstep there are lots of places to visit locally. Within a ten minute drive you can visit Howick Hall and Gardens, Alnwick Castle, Alnwick Gardens, Barter Books, the Bailiffgate museum and the picturesque coastal villages of Craster ( home of the world famous Craster Kipper), and Alnmouth.
