Kingfisher Barn
The site at Kingfisher Barn was created by converting old farm buildings. Made of red brick, stone and handmade tiles, the barn oozes charm and history. Situated around a courtyard garden and all on the ground floor, we offer 4 double rooms, 4 twin rooms, and 2 spacious single rooms for our guests. We prepare the rooms to a high standard, this means total comfort, with a homely, fresh, and clean feel. All rooms are recently redecorated and include an en-suite bath or shower room with toiletries and fresh towels provided. One of our twin rooms also boasts a wet room bathroom with hand rails alongside the loo and shower, as well as a lowered sink. The wet room can also be equipped with a shower chair if needed.
We serve breakfast from 7am-9am so enjoy it at a time that best suits you. Sit out in our beautiful courtyard on a lovely summer’s morning or take your time over breakfast in our log cabin.

The history surrounding Abingdon adds to its appeal as an excellent base for a day out, a short break or holiday. Many of its buildings have remained unchanged for hundreds of years, and the Monday market has existed since 1556. There is also a farmers market which sells local produce every third Monday of the month. Two of the main roads into Abingdon cross the River Thames and the River Ock, over bridges that are themselves listed as ancient monuments. The bridge over the Thames is over 550 years old. In more recent years Abingdon has also become famous for being the birthplace of MG Cars.
Being situated on The River Thames has always been important to the town and today is a focal point for a selection of recreational activities. Attractive riverside gardens and friendly pubs and restaurants cater for many visitors, while anglers fill the river banks and pleasure cruisers pass unhurriedly through the picturesque lock.
Abingdon is also centrally located, making it a convenient base for day trips. The ever popular and exciting, Oxford is just 6 miles away, with great bus links from Abingdon town centre it is easy to visit without needing to take the car. Further out, Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon and attractions such as Blenheim Palace and the beautiful countryside of the Cotswolds are within easy driving distance.
