Spending time outside can improve mood, appetite and sleep patterns. Research also shows that keeping the brain active can slow the progression of dementia. Dementia Adventure thinks differently about dementia. We look at what people can do, not what they can’t. We believe that, with the right support, people with dementia and their families can continue to get outdoors, experience the benefits of nature and live more active and fulfilled lives.
Caring for someone with dementia can be intensive and exhausting. Breaks are essential, but holidays can become difficult. Traditional respite care typically separates people, which can come at a high emotional cost. Dementia Adventure is a charity with 12 years of experience offering an alternative – our shared supported breaks.
We fundraise to subsidise all our holidays by 25%, and may be able to offer further financial assistance to make your holiday possible.
As well as supported dementia holidays we provide training for family and friends, professionals and organisations.
