Bruce Boats, Kennet & Avon Canal Trust
We have four wheelchair-accessible holiday hire boats on the Kennet & Avon Canal in Wiltshire, just south of the M4.
Rachel, sleeps 6 in two doubles and two singles, separated by curtains. Wetroom with grabrails.
Hannah, sleeps 12 in four singles, and eight bunk beds, in five separate sleeping areas. Two toilets, one in a wetroom with grabrails.
Rebecca, sleeps 8 in one double, one single, one electrically-operated hospital bed, and four bunks. Two toilets, one in a wetroom with grabrails.
Diana, can sleep 10, but is more often used for day trips.
All the boats have ramps and lifts to access all areas, and accessible wetrooms with grab rails etc, and a fully equipped kitchen with full size gas cooker, under the counter fridge, and hot and cold water. The boats have spacious saloon areas with low level windows for good visibility, and large front and back decks. Mobile hoists, loo seat raisers, perching stools, and other equipment are available to borrow for no extra charge.
We offer full training for anyone who has not driven a canal boat before. Due to the number of locks on the canal, you will need at least three active people in your group in order to drive the boat safely. We also offer crewed day trips for up to 12 people.
