The Byre is a converted steading on a working livestock farm just outside the village of Lumsden, in rural Aberdeenshire. The cottage sleeps 6 people in 3 bedrooms, all with en-suite showers and toilets. 1 bedroom with a fully accessible en-suite. The Byre was converted 4 years ago to a high standard and has under floor heating throughout. It is all on one level and there are no steps inside or out.

From the cottage you’ll enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding hills, and can enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside.

We are ideally situated 20 miles form the Cairngorms national park, 30 miles from the city of Aberdeen and 30 miles from the scenic Moray coast. With its pretty coastal fishing villages and beautiful sandy beaches.

We are just 8 miles from Alford that is home to the Alford Heritage Museum which showcases the history and people of the area. The Grampian Transport Museum for all things transport. From the Stagecoach to electric cars and the Alford Valley Railway, a narrow-gauge railway that crosses the Alford golf course, as well as a host of local shops and eateries. 13 miles in the opposite direction is Huntly home of Deans shortbread factory and bistro and Rizzas ice-cream factory and shop as well as supermarkets and local shops, another golf course, and of course, Huntly Castle.

We are less than an hour away from Royal Deeside and are situated just off The Whisky Trail and are on the Castle Trail.

With so much to do you wont be short of activities should you want an active holiday, or, you could just relax and enjoy the slower pace of life of the animals and wildlife in the surrounding fields.
